R/C Sailboats Show & Tell
Location: Lodge Lawn
Time: 2pm to 3pm
Description:
Some of you may have seen me sailing my RC Nirvana II class remote controlled sailboat in the cove. I have had a great time sailing this approximately one meter boat. When my brother-in-law and I were down at our dock sailing, we thought it would be a good idea to get a second boat so we could both be sailing together. Well one thing lead to another, and I thought there might a possibility of creating a model sailboat group at Paupac. If anyone is interested in recreational model sailing, or even racing, we could get together - the cove is an ideal location.

If anyone is interested, I would like to meet with you at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday of Labor Day weekend on the Lodge lawn, with appropriate social distancing. I will be bringing my Nirvana boat for “show and tell,” and if my new Dragon Force boat comes before then, I’ll bring that too. Please email me with any questions you may have: rcarey@tamanend.com . Children are especially invited. With adult guidance, when we meet as a group we could all participate in everything from build boats together, learn to sail and then race their boats.

Unfortunately my Nirvana II is no longer in production. However, there is a similar class boat called Dragon Force 65 that is essentially the same size and really is a better boat. The Dragon Force 65 complete kit is $249.00 for everything needed to rig and then set sail. There is a website, http://radiosailing.net, that has other boats that have recently been upgraded and released. Like the Sunfish. having one class of boat puts everyone on the same equipment level. Although there is one slightly larger boat, the Dragon Flight 95, the cost of that boat I think would limit the number of people who would be willing to participate.

Look forward to hearing and or meeting with anyone interested.
