2025 Sailing

We will be having our regular Paupac Sunfish races each Saturday (11:15 AM) and Sunday (11:30 AM) starting on the Annual Meeting weekend and ending Labor Day Weekend, for a total of 20 races.  As usual we follow the US Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing.  Our scoring system will continue with a required 7 races for pennant qualification. If you sail in 8-14 races, you may eliminate your worst score. If you sail in 15 or more races, you may eliminate your two worst scores.

Sailing race

Details
  • All ages and abilities are encouraged to race. Experienced sailors are friendly and helpful to novice sailors; the veteran sailors want you to enjoy sailing as much as they do!
  • Races start at the committee boat at a mid-lake location (west, Inlet, or east buoy.)
  • 15 minutes before race time, one blast of the horn indicates the race will start in 15 minutes. 3 blasts of the horn indicate the race is canceled (no postponements) due to no wind or inclement weather.

Rules
  • All sailors age 12 or less are required by law to wear a PFD (life preserver) approved by the US Coast Guard.
  • Over the age of 12, you are required to carry an approved PFD on board.
  • However, we strongly suggest that all sailors wear a PFD at all times, both in races and for pleasure sails.
  • Sailors must wear PFDs (life preservers).

Learning to Sail
  • Please call Janet Gottshall if you would like to have sailing instruction or hold a sailing camp, all ages included.
